FriendVox brings IM to Facebook

October 2 Mike Butcher

Launching this Friday, FriendVox is a instant messaging client for Facebook made by London-based Techlightenment, which recently did the Bob Dylan and Socialistics app.

It claims to be the first instant messaging client to embrace social networking by highlighting the people in your network who have a lot of followers, and other data it determines from your network. Nor do you need to install the application or download anything.

The IM client will display the status of your friends, and you can also edit your status on the fly. The app mashups up the Socialistics tag cloud to give you an indication of people’s relevance to you and also more importantly you can see which of your closest friends are online. You can also automatically separate your friends into groups.

So that’s IM in Facebook. What someone needs to do now is create a VOIP client for Facebook and they can wipe another billion of Skype’s value, aside from the other billion eBay now says it overpaid.

Here are some screen shots to whet your appetite.
