Microsoft buys mapping site MultiMap

The Guardian is reporting that Microsoft is buying 11-year-old UK online mapping company Multimap, with a view to integrating its technology with its services. Microsoft already has Virtual Earth, Live Search, Windows Live services, MSN and its new £3.2bn ($6.5bn) acquisition aQuantive. recently Multimap re-launched with an interface closer to the Google Maps, which has a 21.4% reach globally compared to 1.4% for Multimap, according to Nielsen Online.
