I tried Joost - I was appalled. The app download and installation that appeared to never work quite right. The horrifyingly garish interface with maddening functionality. Clearly joost never heard of user testing or usability.

In surveying the alternatives I've found a great alternative online video source in Hulu.com. It seems to be doing all the right things. Lots of content, high quality video, quality programming, browser based viewing and a nice clean user interface.

Well, let's just hope that the BBC won't let him touch the iPlayer.

Otherwise I will have to deinstall the iPlayer as well in a few months time in addition to already having removed Joost from my computer - for good that much is certain.

What a nightmare user experience with Joost ! It used up all or most of my computer's resources, it frequently froze the screen for no apparent reason, it didn't respond to user input well (or not at all on many occasion), it gave me all those bells and whistles that I never asked for. And all that to find out there is nothing interesting on the damn system.... what a waste of time.

What the hell was he thinking when building such a crap product ???????

Dirk, please please please: LEAVE YOUR HANDS OFF THE IPLAYER !!! The way it is right now is just fine.

Please please please: Build your backend systems, or whatever, BUT DON'T TOUCH THE IPLAYER !!!

I am begging you!!

I may not be in the target market (I do not watch much TV at all) but I am exactly the same with Joost - have not looked at it in months since the choice resembled a selection of c**p cable channels in the US.
